Gala evening on German television for the inauguration of color broadcasting. The gala was a two-days live show from the 25th Funkausstellung IFA in Berlin intended to showcase the new technology of color TV and international artists including Gigliola Cinquetti, Freddy, Juliette Greco, Mahalia Jackson, Al Martino, Mireille Mathieu, Ulrik and Ulla Neumann, Ester and Abi Ofarim, Nini Rosso, Sonny and Cher.

Nina Simone was one of the great female vocalists of the 20th Century. She was equally at home singing jazz, blues, soul, gospel or pure pop. Hugely prolific throughout the fifties, sixties and seventies, she recorded only rarely in her later career, but remained a major live performer until well into the nineties when, becoming increasingly frail, she retired to France where she died in 2003 at the age of 70.

Nina Simone made four appearances at the Montreux Festival between 1968 and 1990. This DVD features the whole performance from 1976 as the main feature and is supplemented by bonus features of two tracks from her concert in 1987 and four from her final show in 1990. Albert King (25 de Abril, 1923 -- 21 de Dezembro, 1992) foi um influente guitarrista e cantor americano de blues. Foi considerado o 13º melhor guitarrista do mundo pela revista norte-americana Rolling Stone.
Um dos "Três Kings" da guitarra Blues (junto com B.B. King e Freddie King), ele possuía uma figura imponente de 1,93m de altura e 118 kg. Ele nasceu Albert Nelson em uma família humilde em Indianola, Mississipi, em uma plantação de algodão onde trabalhou na sua juventude. Uma de suas primeiras influências musicais foi o pai, Will Nelson, que tocava guitarra. Durante sua infância, ele também cantava gospel em uma igreja local. Albert começou sua carreira profissional em um grupo chamado In the Groove Boys, em Osceola, Arkansas.
Seu primeiro sucesso foi "I'm A Lonely Man", lançado em 1959. Entretanto, foi apenas em 1961 com o lançamento de "Don't Throw Your Love On Me So Strong" que seu nome tornou-se conhecido. Em 1966 King assinou contrato com a famosa gravadora Stax Records, e em 1967 lançou seu lendário álbum Born Under a Bad Sign. Em 1968 ele foi contratado por Bill Graham para abrir os shows de John Mayall e Jimi Hendrix no Fillmore West, em San Francisco. Albert King era canhoto e tocava uma guitarra Gibson Flying V virada de forma que as cordas graves ficavam para baixo.
Albert King influenciou milhares de guitarristas, incluindo músicos famosos como Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Stevie Ray Vaughan e Gary Moore. O solo de Eric Clapton na música "Strange Brew" (Cream, 1968) é uma cópia nota-a-nota do solo de King na música "Pretty Woman".
Albert King morreu em 21 de Dezembro de 1992, vítima de um ataque cardíaco em Memphis, Tennessee.

This was written by Dave Bartholomew and Dave King. Bartholomew wrote some of Fats Domino's hits, including "Walking To New Orleans," "Whole Lotta Lovin'" and "Blue Monday." Smiley Lewis originally recorded this in 1956. His version hit #11 on the R&B charts, but didn't crack the Pop charts. Elvis recorded this in February 1957. A year later, Elvis went into the army. During this time, Elvis was in Germany so his record company began releasing previously recorded tracks. In the US, this came out in 1958; in the UK it was released in 1959. It was Elvis' first song to reach the top of the UK charts after he went into the army. In January 2005 this was re-released in the UK to commemorate Elvis' 70th birthday. It went to #1, replacing Elvis' "Jailhouse Rock," which was also re-released. It became the fourth track ever to be #1 twice and only the third time in UK chart history that an artist has replaced themselves at the top of the charts. On January 24, 1957 Elvis recorded "One Night of Sin" at Radio Recorders. The risque' version was not released until 1983, when it appeared on the LP Elvis - A Legendary Performer, Volume 4. The cleaned-up version, take #10, was recorded a month later and released October 1958. Presley was inducted on March 28, 1958. "One Night" reached #4 on Billboards Hot 100 chart during its 17 week stay, and #10 on R&B's chart. In England it went to #1 and stayed at the top for 3 weeks. Elvis sang an extended version of this during the "jam session" part of his "comeback" TV special "Elvis" in December 1968. The part where he shouted out "Been too lonley too long!" was one of the highlights of the show.
